WHAT IS NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND?
The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB) is designed to improve
student achievement and change the culture of America’s schools.
It is a reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education
Act, the principle federal law affecting education from Kindergarten
through high school. The legislation is based on four key components:
- Stronger
Accountability for Results
- More Freedom for States and Communities
- Proven Education Methods
- More Choices for Parents
The NCLB Act supports learning during the formative years of a
child’s life with the intention of preventing learning difficulties
in the future. It also promotes participation from parents, educators,
administrators, communities, and government to strengthen the American
education system. The intention of NCLB is to establish minimum
standards and qualifications for curriculum and educators, including
paraprofessionals. For more information on NCLB, visit the Department
of Education’s web site at www.ed.gov/nclb/overview/intro/index.html.
Action Management Corporation (AMC) services assist schools in
all facets of the NCLB legislation. For example, AMC has a proven
program designed to assist paraprofessionals in Michigan achieve
the WorkKeys certification mandated by the state based on the NCLB
Act. WE tailor each program to meet the specific needs of individual
school systems and their employees based on their state requirements.
